Southwest Oz Regional Morning Report (Wednesday 620am): A solid push in new long period SW groundswell kicked in overnight with large wave heights show across the region. Buoys have picked up 4m in 24hr so it has come in quick with the deepwater energy. Double overhead plus on the open areas and the shape has a wobbly southerly texture early, even though the current SSW winds are somewhat light, the sea surface is bumpy. High tide is coming up at 820am and making it quite full. Protected areas will be wrapping in the swell a bit better with the long period refraction likely working into sheltered spots.
Rest of Day Outlook: Large scale SW groundswell is building and getting an XL push through midday as it reaches a peak. Waves have ramped up size but conditions needs to settle the southerly onshore bump. Winds are light SSW and will strengthen midday, then possibly tend lighter and mellow down later in the day, so worth checking around for update reports, or seek out a spot working with the size and south protection. Tide dropping in the arvo to 240pm low.
