Torquay Regional Morning Report: 7.20 am Sunday, 17th January:  Slightly smaller than yesterday in the SW swell at the knee to waist high on the beachbreaks, marginal conditions for the reefs with west wind. Worth a crack to get wet, so make the most of what is on offer although of average quality.

Rest of Day Outlook:   Surf Forecast. 3 – 4ft SW swell with 11 to 12 sec intervals. Potential reinforcing SSW swell fills in as lighter onshore WSW to SW winds open up some half-decent options, deteriorating as SW winds freshen through the day.

Coastal Waters forecast. Strong Wind Warning for Sunday for Central Coast

Winds Southwesterly 15 to 25 knots turning westerly 20 to 25 knots during the afternoon and evening. Winds reaching up to 30 knots offshore in the far east early in the morning and again in the evening.

1st Swell Southwesterly 1.5 to 2 metres, increasing to 2 to 3 metres in the far west.

2nd Swell Easterly around 1 metre in the east.

    Weather Cloudy.

    Tides H 3.30am (1.99) L 9.22am ( .69) H 3.11pm ( 1.58).

Weather synoptic -  A high-pressure system south of WA extends a ridge over Victoria. The high will move slowly eastwards on Sunday and Monday, maintaining a fresh southwesterly flow over coastal waters. A cold front will clip Bass Strait on Monday, with winds easing during Tuesday as the high becomes centred west of Tasmania.
